Prothioconazol ist ein Fungizid der Triazolinthione zur Verwendung als Saatgutbehandlung und Blattspray zur Behandlung einer Vielzahl von Getreidekrankheiten.

Prothioconazol und das Transformationsprodukt Prothioconazol-S-Methyl werden in Oberflächenwasser- und Abwasserproben detektiert und sind somit in Hinblick auf den gesundheitlichen Verbraucherschutz von Bedeutung.
