Alternaria-Toxins

Alternaria toxins are characterized by a very wide range. The literature already describes more than 70 different mycotoxins. Among them, alternariol (AOH), alternariol monomethyl ether (AME), tenuazonic acid (TEA), altertoxins (ATX), tentoxin (TEN), altenuene (ALT).

These mycotoxins are known to be detected in grains and grain-based products, tomatoes and tomato-based products, sunflower seeds and sunflower oil, fruit and fruit products including fruit juices, and in beer and wine. Alternaria toxins have a potentially harmful effect and are therefore of particular interest to consumer health protection. Cytotoxic and carcinogenic properties are among the observed effects.
