Lufenuron is an active ingredient in the group of chitin synthesis inhibitors used to control and prevent biting and sucking insects in dogs and cats. Lufenuron is also sold as an agricultural pesticide for use against lepidopterans, eriophid mites (Tuckerella sp.), and western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentali)s. In addition it is an effective antifungal in plants. Residues of Lufenuron and its metabolites are found in environmental and water samples.
