Alachlor is an herbicide from the chloroacetanilide family. It is the second most widely used herbicide for control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in crops, primarily on corn, sorghum and soybeans in the United States. Use of alachlor is illegal in the European Union.
The active substance itself and its most important transformation products are detected as part of groundwater monitoring and are thus of importance in terms of drinking water quality.
ASCA GmbH has successfully synthesized the active substance alachlor and some important metabolites and can offer these with a chemical purity of more than 98%.
