UV absorbers

September 08, 2020

We are introducing our newly synthetized and labeled UV absorbers, which are widely used as sunscreen agents and in many cosmetic products.

2-Ethylhexyl 4-methoxycinnamate  and Ethyl trans-4-methoxycinnamate-d3 were selected for inclusion in the 3rd watch list as substances to be monitored under the water framework directive, as described in the Joint Research Centre‘s (European Commission’s science and knowledge service) technical report. According to the European Chemical Agency (ECHA), EHMC is under assessment as persistent, bioaccumulative, toxic and potentially has endocrine disrupting properties. Scientific evidence also suggests effects of EHMC on reproduction and possible role in DNA damage.
